Digital Media, New Tools & Technology

Welcome to my portfolio for LDT300x. This portfolio is a work in progress that provides me an opportunity to learn, practice, apply ideas from the program. I am excited to see it grow and evolve into a demonstration of my skills as a designer.

During these 8 weeks, I am exploring the design, development and use of digital media and emerging technologies to support online teaching and learning. Below is my work in progress. Please feel free to click on the read more buttons to see my works relevant to each week content. Thank you for visiting my site.

Digital Media Checklist

Before using material from any source,  it is important to evaluate several features such as relevancy, quality, license permits, and so on. The OER checklist allows a learning designer to assess the selected sources.

Digital document

When creating a digital document, which involves a combination of digital texts and visuals, it is essential to apply design theory.

Digital image

A picture is worth a thousand words (if done appropriately). One of the greatest challenges of selecting the right image is knowing what’s available and how to use.

Digital video

Videos are effective for learning as they contain multiple representations. Creating effective video for educational purposes is a complicated process. A storyboard is an effective tool for such a process.

Screencast

Screencasting application allows users to record their audio and visual activities that occur on their screen, including mouse movements, images, and video and share with their audience.

Digital audio for learning

Audio learning provides several important elements to the overall learning experience and use of digital media tools.  Issues worth exploring are effective digital media for creating audio and implementation strategies to enhance the overall experience for end-users.

Author tools

E-learning can be considered as multiple specializations including the development of a module and the instructional design of an e-learning module. There are many technologies used in the development of digital media learning tools in e-learning.
