Week 7 Authoring tool for interactive learning
This week, I explore authoring tools for instructional designers. I review several e-learning author tools presented in this Week module. Finally, I can use Articulate Rise 360 to create a learning module on how to create visual guides using templates in Snagit.
This is a link to my active learning module.
The module consists of 5 videos, 5 figures, 1 digital audio, 2 quizzes and a challenge to reinforce students learning with multimodal presentations. The purpose of this module is to teach how to use templates to create visual instructions or guides. Firstly, I present basic information on Snagit using a combination of texts, video and an interactive object. After that, I provide learners with 3 simple steps to creating any content using Snagit. This part is quite brief as I expect that the learners have some experience with Snagit but never use templates to create visual guides. Students complete Quiz 1 to assess their understanding.
In the next part, learners could explore the steps of making a guide from templates by either (or both) watching a how-to step-by-step video or looking at 2 visual guides. Learners get immediate feedback on their learning from Quiz 2 and perhaps feedback from me if they wish to join the challenge. However, learners would recognise their performance by themselves if they try to create a visual guide using the templates in Snagit. Finally, I summarise the lesson by providing learners with a visual guide of all steps and information about the next modules.
